Workshops

The intent for the host is to develop samples of finishes/building systems (see Annex 1)

  • Skill building of the local masons/helpers / community (Vanamu / Host does not charge a fee for them)
  • Learn, and upgrade skills in natural building techniques
  • Find the local/regional sources of the right materials and processes to work with
  • Refine designs and understand costing/project planning of a project
  • Publicize ones initiatives through the workshop, among participants

Organizer / Host (arranges) 

  • Food and Stay for team Vanamu @ local hotel for the entire workshop period + one day before + one day after
  • Travel for team Vanamu from Yelahanka, Bangalore, or reimburse the same
  • Typically, Cab to and from railway stations + 2nd AC train travel between stations.
  • Food and stay for the entire workshop for all participants if the workshop venue does not have services within walkable distance; only lunches, tea, and coffee if they are. 
  • Helps in local publicity and circulation within their contacts
  • Costs of all the above are calculated to set the fees per participant.  

Vanamu (arranges)

    • Poster and  publicity, poster + webpage + instagram 
    • Participant sign-ups
    • All tools and materials for the workshop 
    • Handles all communication with participants
    • Takes care of site cleanup, tools, and materials repacked
    • Photo documentation and publicity
  • Costs of all the above are 1500 Rs/Participant per day with a minimum and maximum participation of 10 – 20 paid participants

Consulting 

The intent of the Host is to train a local team to execute a certain system of construction (see Annex 1)

  • Learn, and upgrade skills in natural building techniques
  • Find the local/regional sources of the right materials and processes to work with
  • Refine designs and understand costing/project planning of a project

Host (arranges) 

  • Food and Stay for team Vanamu @ local hotel for the entire workshop period + one day before + one day after
  • Travel for team Vanamu from Yelahanka, Bangalore, or the reimburse the same
  • Typically, Cab to and from railway stations + 2nd AC train travel between stations.

Vanamu (arranges)

  • Design / Training 
  • Helps the host procure tools and materials 
  • Estimated time for engagement is done as per need
  • Costs per day at 10,000 Rs 
  • Food and Stay for team Vanamu @ local hotel for the entire engagement period + one day before + one day after
  • Travel for team Vanamu from Yelahanka, Bangalore, or the reimburse the same
  • Typically, Cab to and from railway stations + 2nd AC train travel between stations

Contracting

In situations where the host / main contractor is unable to execute a specific phase (annex 1) of the construction, Vanamu can act as a contractor. The cost of such specific parts to be executed by the architect as a subcontractor shall be paid with a contracting commission attached to the “actual costs”(Annex 2).

Annex 2 – Actual costs

Cost of housing the workers on site / off site with the provision of a toilet, water and electricity. On Actuals
