ABOUT:

Peeli Padaav is a small self-sustaining community of  270 households engaged in agriculture and dairying.  The  village ,which is 22 km from Haridwar on the north east, is surrounded by forest on three sides and a seasonal river and Shiwalik hill ranges on the other side.  

Majority of the villagers possess traditional skills in the art of building with the  locally available resources in innovative ways to make their dwelling units thermally comfortable , functional in meeting their needs and aesthetically pleasing – all of these without using any manufactured material.

The participants of the proposed field-oriented program can have variety of useful , enriching experiences here: learning to make mud-pole structures, grass roof, traditional plastering ,  surface art and embellishments, traditional fenestrations and the list can go on.
